Chicken Lentil Bok Choy Dog Recipe

Chicken Lentil Bok Choy Dog Recipe

This home made Chicken, red lentil, carrots and bok choy with a pinch of Ceylon Cinnamon is sure to delight your dog. While we used organic food the choice is up to you. Either way the red lentils and the vegetables blend well in this recipe. The Ceylon Cinnamon and the chicken stock adds great taste and makes the food palatable for dogs. Yes the chicken stock has salt but this well within the limits for dogs who incidently need a bit of salt for optimal health.

  • Prep Time :15 Minutes
  • Cook Times :32 minutes
  • Yield :1-2 servings for a 10 pound dog
  • 8 oz. organic ground chicken
  • 3 oz. grated carrots
  • 2 oz. Bok Choy
  • 1/4 cup (1.78oz) red lentils
  • 1/8 tsp. Ceylon Cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp. Better than Bouillon Chicken base
  • 1 tsp. Coconut Oil
  1. Wash the 1/4 cup of red lentils thoroughly until there is no residue. Add 1 cup of water, and then add 3 shakes of turmeric powder. If you do not have a shaker, just grab a pinch of each and add them to the lentils. Put the red lentils on high, bring to a boil (about 2 minutes), reduce the heat to medium, and cook for 20 minutes.
  2. Finely grate the carrots with a grater. This makes it easier to stir and for the dogs to eat.

  3. Finely chop the Bok choy. Again, it is important to finely chop the Bok choy, as dogs do not like large pieces of vegetables.
  4. Heat a frying pan on medium-high heat, add 1 tsp of coconut oil, let it warm for a minute or so, add the grated carrots and stir-fry for a minute. Then add the Bok choy to the same pan and stir-fry for about 5 minutes. Remove from the pan into a separate dish.
  5. Add the chicken to the pan, still on medium-high heat, and pan-fry. There is no need to add more oil or water as the chicken has some moisture. This process browns the meat a little and adds flavor. Add 1/8 tsp of Ceylon Cinnamon powder and 1/2 tsp of chicken stock (we used organic chicken stock). Let it cook for 3 minutes, stirring frequently. We rinsed some of the chicken stock with a little water since it was stuck to the spoon.
  6. Add the carrots, bok choy, and cooked red lentils to the chicken, stir. Add 1/4 cup of water, cook for another 1 minute. Then add another 1/4 cup of water and let it cook for about 3 minutes. We added water because our dog prefers his food a little wet and moist.
  7. Let it cool and serve it to your pet
